Our December bulletin board is all about holidays that are celebrated in December in the United States. We believe it is important for children to learn about and celebrate the traditions and holidays of different religions and cultures. Doing so helps to increase understanding and appreciation for those who celebrate different holidays and helps make sure all students feel seen and included throughout the holiday season.
You can download our December "Celebrating Winter Holiday" bulletin board display here. We have highlighted three holidays, Hanukkah, Bodhi Day, and Kwanzaa, but have also shared a little information on additional holidays celebrated in the month of December as well.
Based on the size of your bulletin board and the messages you'd like to share you can customize your bulletin board display any number of ways. There are multiple banner options available, multiple border options to choose from, and a number of posters you can pick from.
We are asking for a suggested donation of $20 which will assist in our efforts to pay the artists and illustrators for their work creating the coloring pages for us each month. Donations can be made here.
Note: The goal is to use BIPOC illustrators and artists to create the coloring pages for our heritage month displays, however, this month the illustrator was not from the BIPOC community.
We hope to have a downloadable workbook soon. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it's available. Sign up for our newsletter here, by scrolling to the bottom of the page and entering your email.
Tips for Printing and Putting the Bulletin Board Together:
Posters: Each poster is formatted to print on 8 1/2" x 11 cardstock.
The coloring pages are formatted to print on 8 1/2" x 11 paper.
The Winter Holidays "Win a Book" Drawing poster can be trimmed down and then attached to a box for children to drop their quiz or coloring page entries into if you choose to have a drawing for a book as part of your display.
Posters can be downloaded here.
Banner: There are multiple banner options.
The first is formatted to print on two 11" x 17" pieces of cardstock and then cut along the lines to create the title for the bulletin board.
Banners can be downloaded here.
There is also a file with six banners that are formatted to print as a poster at 32" x 18". Depending on the size of your bulletin board you can trim them down to the size you would like them.
Border: The border is formatted to print on 11" x 17" cardstock.
We recommend printing four or five copies of the border to have enough to outline your bulletin board, however, depending on the size of your bulletin board you may need more or less.
(Note: the bulletin board at our local elementary school is approximately 96 inches x 47 inches and we need five copies of the border printed and cut to outline the bulletin board.)
Cut along the three lines to create four strips of the border from each sheet of cardstock.
Border can be downloaded here.
We believe learning about and celebrating holidays of different religions and cultures is a beautiful way to spread light and love this holiday season. We hope you will join us.
